NBA Live 20 cancelled as EA explores “new design”

NBA Live 20 has been cancelled by EA in an effort to bring about a “new design” to the franchise.

“We’re not launching a new NBA Live HD product this season,” EA CEO Andrew Wilson said as part of a financials report today.

“Instead, we’re expanding our vision, leaning hard into the new leading-edge platforms, and taking the time to ensure we deliver against the opportunity for our players.”

“Now with greater understanding of [PS5 and Project Scarlett] and what they can power… we feel we can go so much further with the new design,” a further statement from EA advised. “So we’ve decided not to ship an NBA Live game in [financial year 2020]. Instead, we’re expanding our vision for NBA Live, and continuing to work closely with our… partners on this new project.”

More on NBA Live 21 will be shared in 2020, EA advised.
