More adult females than teenage boys play games in the USA

The Entertainment Software Association has just released a new study that says more adult females than teenage boys play video games in the USA.

Adult males still play the most, but the adult female demographic jumped the most, from 40% in 2010 to 48% now. It’s safe to say that represents a far different demographic of females as compared to that Frag Dolls picture above, taken in 2007.

“Our industry has a remarkable upward trajectory. Computer and video games are a form of entertainment enjoyed by a diverse, worldwide consumer base that demonstrates immense energy and enthusiasm for games,” Michael D. Gallagher, President and CEO of the ESA, said.

Why do you think these figures have changed so drastically? A surge in mobile gaming? The cost of current-gen consoles and games? Let us know in the comments, below.
