Minecraft ray-tracing added, removed from Xbox Series version

Whoops.

Minecraft ray-tracing was briefly added, then removed, from the Xbox Series version of the title.

The game’s official account took to Twitter with the snafu.

“The previous Minecraft Preview build available to Xbox Insiders inadvertently included prototype code for raytracing support on Xbox consoles,” a tweet read. “This early prototype code has been removed from Preview and doesn’t signal near future plans to bring raytracing support to consoles.”

As the update states, ray-tracing hasn’t yet been dated for the Xbox Series version of the game… but that said, if a preview build has been prepped, it’s hopefully not too long coming.

We’ll keep you informed as we learn more.

Minecraft is currently available on basically everything.
