Microsoft trademarks Battletoads; doesn’t announce new game

The clever folks at NeoGAF have uncovered a trademark application for Battletoads, as lodged by Microsoft.

Those familiar with the series know that Battletoads is a beat ’em up developed by the now Microsoft-owned Rare Studios.

A Microsoft representative has confirmed the trademark application, saying, “Microsoft often acquires various trademarks as part of its ongoing business strategy, but beyond that we have no comment.”

Are you hoping to see a new Battletoads game sometime soon?
