Microsoft to invest in first-party content, studios on Xbox

Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, has confirmed Microsoft will invest in sorely lacking first-party content on Xbox.

“Our ability to go create content has to be one of our strengths,” Spencer recently told Bloomberg. “We haven’t always invested at the same level. We’ve gone through ups and downs in the investment.”

Apart from Forza, Gears and Halo, Microsoft first-party titles seem few and far between. Recent attempts to correct this have faltered — Scalebound and Fable Legends were cancelled and both ReCore and Quantum Break were met with lacklustre reviews. Moreover, Microsoft has shuttered internal studios Lionhead and Press Play of late.

Might we suggest Alan Wake 2 to kick things off, Mr. Spencer?

What types of first-party content would you like to see as Microsoft begins investing?
