Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 update 1.1.9.0 helps to stabilise the title

We got a flight in!

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 update 1.1.9.0 has helped to further stabilise the sim after a disastrously wobbly launch.

First, those playing on PC need to be aware of issues with their Community Folder.

“If you are playing on PC, outdated packages in your Community Folder may have an unexpected impact on the title’s performance and behavior,” Asobo said in patch notes. “If you suffer from stability issues or long loading times, move your Community package(s) to another folder before relaunching the title.”

The update itself fixes numerous crashes, including when players selected “As Arrival” in the EFB, another that popped up changing camera and drone focus, alongside “various crashes across the title”.

If, like me, you tried and failed to play the sim at launch, you’ll be pleased to know I jumped in and finally got my first flight in last night without any issues — I didn’t even have NPCs in Career mode fail to properly load in, holding an “error” sign in front of them. Good times.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is available on Windows PC via Microsoft Store and Steam alongside Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Cloud Gaming on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. You can also access it via Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.
