Microsoft, Bethesda merger complete; some games to become Xbox exclusive

And others will head to Xbox Game Pass sooner than later!

The Microsoft, Bethesda merger is complete, with Xbox head Phil Spencer officially welcoming ZeniMax and its studios into the Microsoft family.

“This is an exciting day for Xbox. Today we officially complete the acquisition of ZeniMax Media, parent company of Bethesda Softworks,” Phil Spencer wrote.

“It’s an honor to welcome the eight incredibly talented development studios – Bethesda Game Studios, id Software, ZeniMax Online Studios, Arkane, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog, and Roundhouse Studios – and their passionate global communities to the Xbox family.”

Spencer also confirmed that while “Xbox consoles, PC, and Game Pass will be the best place to experience new Bethesda games” only “some new titles in the future… will be exclusive to Xbox and PC players.”

At the moment, it’s unclear what titles will be Xbox exclusive (though we’d bet on the likes of Starfield ourselves).

Finally, Spencer also advised that Microsoft will be “bringing additional Bethesda games into Xbox Game Pass later this week.” We’ll let you know what those titles are when they’re confirmed.

Are you excited about this merger? What games do you think will be Xbox exclusive?
