Melbourne International Games Week 2022 set for 1-9 October

Get ready!

Melbourne International Games Week 2022 will take place over 1-9 October 2022, the Victorian Government recently announced.

Returning for its eighth year and generally coinciding with PAX Australia, this year’s event will feature events not only in Melbourne but in regional Victoria.

“This year’s program will again celebrate the fun and fantasy of games, as well as exploring how games are being created for a range of diverse sectors, including health, education, defence, mental health and broader social connection,” reads a press release, which also says that a focus will be placed on music, Esports, tabletop games and role-playing games.

“Melbourne International Games Week celebrates Victoria’s thriving games industry, showcases our local talent and capability, and connects industry leaders from across the globe,” said the Victorian Minister for Creative Industries, Danny Pearson. “The Victorian Government has been proud to back our digital games sector as part of our $191.5 million VICSCREEN strategy, and Melbourne International Games Week is the ideal way to get involved, discover the power of games, and have fun!”

The Victorian Government recently detailed a rebranding of Film Victoria to VicScreen.

We’ll have more on Melbourne International Games Week 2022 as it becomes available; a full program will be unveiled in August.
