You may soon be able to change your PlayStation Network IDs

A future PlayStation 4 SDK may allow users to change their PSN IDs, it was discovered today.

Patch notes for a recent Unreal Engine 4 update detail PlayStation 4 SDK version 4.008.061, as spotted by NeoGAF user Kirbasin, suggest that’s where the potential new functionality lies.

The notes page suggest that Sony’s new developer recommendations will allow for a PSN ID change. That PSN ID, new or old, will point to a user’s account ID — the real item that assigns identity in the PlayStation Network.

This is all based on assumptions, of course; Sony has yet to confirm the highly sought after feature will be available.

We’ll keep you posted.
