Matt Booty appointed Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Studios

Xbox head Phil Spencer has reorganised his studio structure, making Matt Booty Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Studios.

The change-up, as reported by GamesBeat, means that Booty will essentially take over Spencer’s current role, freeing the head to focus on Xbox’s big picture strategy.

Booty’s last role at Microsoft was managing Mojang, the studio behind Minecraft.

“It’s become very clear to me that we’re going to invest more in content,” Spencer said in an earlier interview with GamesBeat. “A unified studios leadership organization is critical to our long-term success.”

This looks like one more step towards Spencer’s goal.

A recent report suggests big things coming from Microsoft, including a new Forza Horizon set in Japan, Fable 4 from Playground Games and a new Perfect Dark from Gears 4 developer The Coalition.
