Marvel’s Avengers final content update out, most cosmetics go free

RIP, live service game.

Marvel’s Avengers has received its final content update, with “nearly all” its cosmetics going free to players (that have remained).

This update, 2.8, will be the final one for the beleaguered game. Crystal Dynamics’ support of the title will officially end on 30 September.

The in-game Marketplace is obsolete, meaning all players’ remaining premium currency will be converted into in-game resources. Most cosmetics (ie the ones you don’t earn through gameplay) are now free.

Iron Man’s Variable Threat Response Battle Suit being the title’s final new cosmetic; those who’ve earned one Achievement or Trophy in the game before 1 April will get the cosmetic for free.

Avengers is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4 and PS5.
