Sports star no more: Mario’s back to work as a plumber

Six months after a career change from plumber to sports star, Mario is back to work in his former profession.

After a change in the iconic character’s profile back in September 2017 which called Nintendo’s mascot an “all around sporty” type, taking part in “tennis or baseball, soccer or car racing”, Mario seems to have gotten bored of extreme outings. Now, clever Redditors have spotted that Mario’s back to work as a simple tradesman.

“Occupation is a plumber,” a rough translation of Mario’s newest Japanese bio reads. “But the place of activity does not stop there.”

You don’t say. Hope the little guy’s changed his LinkedIn profile too.

What do you make of Mario’s latest (oldest) job? The character’s latest game is the highly-recommended Super Mario Odyssey on Nintendo Switch.
