Marathon’s Cryo Archive is now live (if you meet its requirements)

Prepare yourselves, runners.

Marathon‘s Cryo Archive is now live, a set of vaults meant to test the most dedicated of runners.

“Cryo Archive is the first deck of the UESC Marathon, where you’ll find a labyrinth of cryopods, medical bays, and storage wings where colonists once eased into and out of deep sleep on their journey across the stars,” Bungie said of the extraction shooter’s newest map.

“In game, Cryo Archive takes you through six interconnected wings with a central hub. Traverse from wing-to-hub and back again in search of frozen Vaults containing powerful loot and dark secrets. Battle your way through intense UESC security, decked out Runner crews, and a ship that seems hellbent on keeping you out.”

To be able to play inside Cryo Archive, you must be a level 15 runner and equip yourself with at least a 5,000 Credit loadout. If you meet those requirements, you’ll likely have met the final one: having each of Marathon‘s six factions unlocked.

“If you meet these requirements, you’ll also be eligible for a one-time Cryo Archive Sponsored Kit from the Armory,” Bungie added. “This is a bundle of blue-tier gear specifically tuned to get you through an early Cryo Archive run without having to risk your favorite items on attempt number one.”

Cryo Archive appears to be active for the next two days or so; after that, Marathon‘s ranked mode will go online. With those experiences behind us, Hamish will soon be able to finalise our current Marathon review in progress.

Marathon is available on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5.
