Marathon release date set for 23 September; first gameplay shown

Check it out!

The Marathon release date was today shared by Bungie, alongside our very first real look at the shooter. Players can expect Marathon from 23 September 2025 across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, with a closed alpha test coming before that.

Moreover, Bungie confirmed that Marathon will feature full cross-play and cross-save across all platforms.

We’ve got a full gameplay livestream and condensed gameplay trailer for you, both below.

“In Marathon, players inhabit a Runner, a cybernetic mercenary scouring the remains of a lost colony of Tau Ceti IV for fortune and power,” Bungie said in a press release. “Players team up in crews of three as they battle rival Runner teams and hostile security forces for weapons and upgrades. Survive and everything they’ve scavenged is theirs to keep for future runs on Tau Ceti IV—or if they’re brave enough, a journey to the derelict Marathon ship that hangs above.”

Adding confusion the mix, Bungie also stated thatMarathon will be a premium title. Marathon will not be a ‘full-priced’ title.” Whatever that means.

Expect Marathon from 23 September 2025 on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5.
