Lucasfilm comments on Battlefront 2 microtransaction mess

Star Wars‘ Lucasfilm has commented on Star Wars Battlefront 2‘s microtransaction mess.

Star Wars has always been about the fans — and whether it’s Battlefront or any other Star Wars experience, they come first,” a Lucasfilm spokesperson told The Washington Post. “That’s why we support EA’s decision to temporarily remove in-game payments to address fan concerns.”

The spokesperson did not comment on reports that Lucasfilm’s parent company, Disney, forced EA’s hand into pulling the microtransactions. Three separate outlets have cited sources close to the matter who said Disney’s Bob Iger got the ball rolling.

No matter who made it happen, EA has temporarily pulled all microtransactions from the game, though our provisional review says this has only complicated matters, not fixed issues.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is available on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
