Lost Judgment might be the last in the series if Sega tries for PC release

And here's a new trailer alongside the rumours!

A new trailer for Lost Judgment shows off investigations inside the game at the same time rumours fly that it may be the last entry in the popular Yakuza spin-off series because of licensing issues.

First, the trailer promises a look at “more investigative action and another glimpse at everyone’s new favourite shiba inu.” It’s below.

It comes as Japanese outlet Nikkan Taishu reports that licensing issues over lead actor Takuya Kimura have arisen between the actor’s agency and publisher Sega. Said agency, Johnny & Associates, is allegedly blocking PC versions of the Judgment series as it doesn’t want the star’s likeness to appear in online (and potentially moddable) PC games.

The report continues to say the conflict arose after Sega started work to bring both Judgment and Lost Judgment to Steam, with Johnny & Associates worried about Kimura’s likeness becoming available in an online space.

“The game makers have decided that if they can’t distribute the game on Steam, it would be very difficult from a business standpoint, and the series will end with the second game, Lost Judgment,” Nikkan Taishu said (via translation).

Lost JudgJument heads to Xbox One, Xbox Series S & X, PS4 and PS5 on 24 September 2021.
