Live-action Zelda movie in the works, Nintendo says

Miyamoto hijacks Twitter to confirm.

A live-action Zelda movie is in the works at Nintendo, Shigeru Miyamoto has today confirmed.

Miyamoto took over the publisher’s Twitter account to confirm that he’s working on the project with former Marvel Studios CEO, Avi Arad.

“This is Miyamoto. I have been working on the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda for many years now with Avi Arad-san, who has produced many mega hit films,” Miyamoto said.

“I have asked Avi-san to produce this film with me, and we have now officially started the development of the film with Nintendo itself heavily involved in the production,” Miyamoto continued. “It will take time until its completion, but I hope you look forward to seeing it.”

In a (translated) press release, Nintendo confirmed the film will be co-financed by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Nintendo’s latest foray into films was the animated Super Mario Bros movie.
