A potentially accidental tweet may have leaked Borderlands 3’s release date… or it may simply be an April Fools’ joke.
Initially spotted by Wario64, the official Borderlands account tweeted, “Mayhem is Coming September 13,” alongside news of gold weapon skin pre-order bonuses and availability on the Epic Games Store.
The tweet has since been removed, causing some to believe it was accidental and too early, meant to be timed for Gearbox’s 3 April reveal. Others think the deletion is just part of an elaborate prank on Gearbox’s part.
Our thoughts? They mirror that of user who wrote, “Don’t believe anything until April 3rd boys” when the tweet was still live.
We’re likely to find out the official Borderlands 3 release date in a couple days. We’ll, of course, keep you posted.
Borderlands 3 is likely planned for a 2019 release on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
