Is Nintendo teasing Pikmin 5 in this new animated short?

No idea.

Nintendo has released a new digital short called Close to You, and some fans think it could be a tease for Pikmin 5.

Nintendo has published the four-minute video with little fanfare, offering nothing to fans but the short’s title. In it, a toddler plays in her bedroom, then marvels as items like her pacifier move on their own accord. It’s as adorable as it is confusing.

Take a look below.

Fans suggest this is a Pikmin 5 tease as the titular beings of that popular franchise are canonically invisible to the human eye (hence things “moving” by themselves).

Still, others believe this video could be a tease for something Super Mario related as the toddler has hair and attire reminiscent of Galaxy‘s Rosalina.

We have no idea what this is, so we’ll wait patiently until more is known. We’ll report back at that time.
