Injustice’s Ed Boon almost made a Marvel fighting game

Ed Boon, the man behind Mortal Kombat and DC fighter Injusticealmost made a Marvel fighting game.

Speaking with Game Informer, the revelation recently came to light. “I probably shouldn’t talk about it,” Boon began.

Despite talks to make the game fizzling out, Boon said he and NetherRealm would still be keen to make a Marvel game in the style of Injustice. Or maybe even a fusion of the two comics juggernauts.

“We would love to make like a Marvel fighting game… or Marvel vs. DC, I think, would be the coolest,” Boon said.

Can you imagine? You might have to settle for that — as DC Comics is owned by Warner Bros., and so is NetherRealm, a DC fighter makes sense. A Marvel one does not.

For now, we’ll have to settle with Mortal Kombat 11; NetherRealm’s latest is available on 23 April across Windows PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Switch. If you’d prefer a Marvel fighting game, you can head on over to Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
