HoloLens to receive official Xbox Live integration, support

At Gamescom, it was confirmed that Microsoft’s VR wearable, HoloLens, will receive Xbox Live integration and support.

VR Focus reports that the confirmation was made by Microsoft’s Jaime Rodriguez at Gamescom this week.

Rodriguez stated that Xbox Live APIs are integrated into any Universal Windows Platform device, including the upcoming HoloLens.

Like Windows 10 PCs and Xboxes, that means multiplayer for HoloLens games will be basically in-built, alongside things like Achievements and tracking.

While the APIs are ready to go, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has indicated the primary focus of HoloLens at launch will be geared towards “developers and enterprise scenarios.”

HoloLens is expected within the next year.
