Hitman purchasing options will change in two weeks

Hitman developer io Interactive took to its blog today to detail changes to Hitman digital purchases.

In two weeks’ time, the game’s “Intro Pack” and “Upgrade Pack” purchase options will disappear, while the entirety of Season One will become the game’s default purchase model.

Here’s exactly what will change per platform:

  • Steam: After the changes, Intro Pack owners will be able to purchase ‘The Complete First Season’ and only pay for the episodes that they do not already own. Essentially, Steam will detect which episodes you have already purchased and only charge you for the ones you do not own. Individual episodes will no longer be available for purchase.
  • Xbox One: After the changes, Intro Pack owners will be able to purchase ‘The Complete First Season’ at a reduced price. Essentially, the price of the ‘Intro Pack’ will be taken off the price of ‘The Complete First Season’ and you will pay the difference. Individual episodes will remain available for purchase.
  • PS4: After the changes, Intro Pack owners will be able to purchase ‘The Complete First Season’ at the standard price. Individual episodes will remain available for purchase.

io Interactive stressed that these changes will not impact anyone with a retail disc, nor those who’ve already purchased digital content.

“These changes have been planned since early March and will make it easier and simpler to buy the game,” the developer added. “Additionally, these changes will help us to lay the foundations for our future plans for Hitman.”

Publisher Square Enix announced back in May that it was to “withdraw” from io Interactive, leaving the future of the franchise in doubt. Square Enix said that it’s “negotiating with prospective external investors capable of ensuring that these titles carry on.” How this is to happen has not yet been detailed.

Hitman is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
