Helldivers 2 on PC pulled from sale in 177 countries over PSN linking

Whoops.

Helldivers 2 on PC has been pulled from sale in 177 countries as a result of a requirement to link Steam accounts with the PlayStation Network.

Helldivers 2 is no longer purchasable in 177 countries where PSN is not available (but some are still available like Baltics),” reported SteamDB. “This game has now received 215,000 negative reviews.”

Impacted countries where the PlayStation Network is not available include Afghanistan, Albania, Armenia, Bermuda, the Cook Islands, French Guiana, Mongolia, Nauru, Tunisia, Uganda, the British Virgin Islands, and many, many more.

New, negative reviews left on the game’s Steam page call out publisher Sony and developer Arrowhead for the new requirement, saying things like, “PSN looks a bit like a dictatorship” or “I was so busy having fun that I forgot about corporate greed for a moment”.

Reports suggest that Sony is not refunding customers who are unhappy with the change, though it appears Valve is refunding customers who lodge requests via Steam.

Helldivers 2 is currently available on Windows PC and PS5.
