Helldivers 2 has lost 90% of its PC player base over five months

Whoops.

Helldivers 2 has lost a whopping 90% of its PC player base in just five months, stats have revealed.

According to SteamDB (via Forbes), Helldivers 2 now has a 30-day average of 41,860 players on PC via Steam. That number has dropped from an average of 166,305 players at the end of May, and its all-time concurrent peak of 458,709 players.

The numbers above do not reflect PS5, of course.

The title’s player base has been impacted by a number of questionable decisions, starting with a requirement for all PC players to link a PlayStation Network account. That decision meant that that the title was pulled from over 175 countries, resulting in a number of negative reviews and unquestioned refunds for the title.

Ultimately, Sony ended up backflipping on the decision — and appears to be taking steps to ensure players know of similar requirements, pre-launch, for titles including Ghost of Tsushima and Concord.

Helldivers 2 is currently available on Windows PC via Steam and PS5.
