Haven same-sex couples update now available

Yas!

Haven same-sex couples update is now available on all platforms.

“You will now be able to choose which couple you want to play as,” developer The Game Bakers said in a statement.

“You can decide to play as the existing Yu and Kay as you know them, as two women (Yu and an alternate version of Kay) or as two men (Kay and an alternate version of Yu),” the developer continue, pointing out that “this choice only impacts the characters you play as, but the gameplay and the story stay the same.”

You can get a taste of what to expect below.

Creative Director Emeric Thoa also addressed (what could be considered a real-life trope in some circles) of the same-sex couples looking remarkably similar.

“Looking at the new Yu and Kay, you will notice that Kay and Yu look very similar across all playable versions,” Thoa wrote on the PlayStation Blog. “There are two reasons for that: first, they are the same characters in the story, they have the same personality, backstory, and life. And second, for technical reasons, we had to keep the same body size, hairstyle, and body shape.”

Haven is now available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and Switch.
