Halo MCC’s “new place to play” a map recovered from Halo Online

And the new way to play is a custom browser.

Halo The Master Chief Collection‘s “new place to play” will come in the form of a new map that’s been recovered from Halo Online.

The news was dropped as part of 343’s most recent Halo community update, which also detailed a “new way to play” in the form of a Custom Game Browser.

343 confirmed that “a new map for Halo 3 from Halo Online” will be rolled out to the collection’s public flight as early as this coming Friday (Australian time), also bringing the following:

  • Custom Game Browser: a new way to play with each other in MCC
  • Season 6 content
  • FOV slider support for all Xbox One consoles
  • FOV slider will no longer be locked when Xbox Series X|S devices are set to 120hz
  • Double Keybindings
  • Mouse & Keyboard support for consoles
  • Advanced Audio options
  • View Model Customization options

While new content is always welcome — especially considering Halo 3 was first launched back in 2007 — it’s likely not what fans were hoping for. Some speculated Halo The Master Chief Collection would make it to Windows PC via the Epic Games Store… or even Nintendo Switch.

Halo Online was announced back in 2015, a free-to-play, multiplayer PC title that was set for release in Russia later in that same year.

Halo The Master Chief Collection is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series S & X, part of Xbox Game Pass on all those platforms.
