Halo Master Chief Collection joins Xbox Game Pass in September

Halo The Master Chief Collection will join the Xbox Game Pass program in September, Microsoft has advised at Gamescom.

Available from 1 September, the availability of Halo: The Master Chief Collection inside Microsoft’s subscription service coincides with an update that will bump the game “up to” 4K resolution and 60 FPS on Xbox One X.

It’s unclear if the 4K resolution is native or not, nor if the 4K resolution will be offered for each game inside the collection — Halo, Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 4. Halo 3: ODST was also added to the collection at a later date as an apology for a problematic launch.

The update also includes “improved matchmaking, offline LAN, customizable installation options, and faster load times,” according to 343 Industries.

Microsoft used Gamescom to announce an Xbox Game Pass iOS and Android app alongside a deal for new subscribers — 1 month of the subscription-based program for just $2.00 AUD.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is currently available on Xbox One.
