Halo 5: Guardians’ Warzone matchmaking not working? It might be a failed “REQ Pack” download

A number of Australian gamers are reporting that Halo 5: Guardians‘ Warzone matchmaking is unavailable.

While the gamers affected have no troubles connecting to Arena matches, they simply sit in a Warzone lobby until an error advises that no matches can be found.

“Unable to match,” the error reads. “There may not be enough players to support a game in this playlist. Please try a different playlist.”

I’ve confirmed the same problems using my own console. I’ve also checked that I’ve got an open NAT, as that sometimes is a necessary requirement with Halo.

Surely there’s a matchmaking error rather than a lack of players on Halo‘s second day, right?

Are you having the same difficulties?Let us know here or on social media.

Update: We’ve sorted our issue, and have confirmed with several other users that a stalled “REQ Pack” download (ours was perpetually stuck at 91%) was causing the issue. By cancelling, completing or otherwise terminating the download (a hard reset worked for us on the second go), Warzone should start up as expected.

It’s strange, but it does explain why Arena worked and Warzone did not, as REQ stuff only counts in the latter mode.

We’re fairly certain the “REQ Pack” in question was the free pack obtained using these instructions.
