Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer released early; game coming 2025

Whelp.

The Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer has released early, seemingly because Rockstar itself has dropped it early. Have at it, below.

Rockstar is letting the trailer speak for itself, merely posting details of the song used in the trailer (it’s “Love is a Long Road” by Tom Petty in case you’re interested).

The trailer confirms a number of things, but paramount is that we’re headed back to Vice City for the franchise’s latest installment. The title will also seemingly follow a couple named Lucia and… well, we’re not sure.

We’re thinking the trailer’s release was a bit of an accident; we recently received a press release from Rockstar with the timing of 1.00 am AEDT on 6 December. The release had a link to the YouTube video embedded above; we’re assuming it was meant to be a premiere, but instead was made instantly available. We’ve asked Rockstar for comment on the matter.

Update: Rockstar Games has said that it released the trailer early because of a leak and not because of a technical error. “Our trailer has leaked so please watch the real thing on YouTube,” Rockstar wrote on its social media.

Grand Theft Auto VI continues our efforts to push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences,” said Rockstar Games’ Sam Houser in a statement that followed. “We’re thrilled to be able to share this new vision with players everywhere.”

Rockstar also confirmed that the title will be set in “the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond.”

You can check out Lucia and her partner in the trailer, of course, and as part of the title’s keyart.

What else can you make from this trailer? Are you excited for it? Sound off in the comments area below.

The wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 is a long, long road itself; we can expect it in 2025.
