Google is redirecting Aussies trying to get to the Stadia website

Google is actively redirecting Australians from accessing a Google Stadia website that’s meant for regions where the streaming service will initially launch.

Stadia.com will take those in the United States, Canada, UK and most of Europe to a website where more information about the service is contained. The website also has a cool Konami Code easter egg that will let users play with a 3D-rendered version of the Stadia controller by typing, “[up arrow], [up arrow], [down arrow], [down arrow], [left arrow], [right arrow], [left arrow], [right arrow], B, A” on their keyboards.

Those with a VPN can spoof a US-based IP and visit the website if you wish. Otherwise, Aussies get access to a GDC hub of sorts, where a range of newly announced services are highlighted. Clicking “Show Me” on the Stadia section just takes users back to the same page.

Google Australia’s already confirmed that Stadia will not be available in the country at launch. The service is expected in the United States, Canada, UK and most of Europe this year.

We’ve gone to Google to ask about Stadia.com access.
