God of War: Ascension’s multiplayer revealed

We knew about God of War: Ascension a little early, but Sony still had an ace up its sleeve: multiplayer.

Here’s what Sony has to say:

For the first time ever in a God of War game, players can compete in online or offline multiplayer battles that combine the fierce combat and scale of the franchise with a unique gameplay experience. Built off of the heart and soul of the single-player campaign, this brand new option can include up to eight players and offers a variety of different multiplayer modes, along with customizable avatar warriors with a range of weapons, armor, and more.

From what we’ve seen, Spartan warriors got to duke it out, GoW-style, on a map overshadowed by a chained Titan. As the teams fight one another, the Titan is slammed into the Earth. The Javelin of Olympus is bestowed upon the map by the Gods, an it’s up for anyone to grab. The winning team will have to finish the Titan off to win.

GamesRadar got to speak with Sony about the new muliplayer modes, and reported that multiplayer gamers will have “the ability to choose between four patron deities (Hades, Ares, Zeus, and Poseidon), and though they weren’t detailed all that much, they served their purpose of proving that the multiplayer isn’t some tacked-on experiment.”

GamesRadar was told there are around 7 or 8 multiplayer maps ready at present, and only got to see the domination/attack-defend game mode.

What do you think of these new revelations, gamers?
