Gears’ The Coalition debuts new Cavern Unreal Engine 5 test demo

And it looks neat!

Gears‘ The Coalition has today debuted a new Cavern Unreal Engine 5 test demo that helps to show the power of Epic Games’ new engine.

The demo, shown below as part of a larger Unreal Engine 5 launch, isn’t meant to showcase a new Coalition title.

“The Cavern shows how movie quality assets – featuring tens of millions of polygons – can be rendered in real-time, a massive 100x leap forward in graphic detail,” Xbox said alongside the test demo.

“This was truly a studio-wide effort to create our first ever cinematic in UE5 – as well as our first time using Sequencer – and we had a lot of fun making it,” added The Coalition’s Kate Rayner. “A couple things we’re really proud of are the facial animations and just the overall quality of the character model.”
