Gears of War 4’s multiplayer will run at 60fps

Speaking with The Official Xbox Magazine, The Coalition’s Rod Fergusson confirmed that Gears of War 4 will run at 60 frames per second (fps).

“Delivering the first 60fps multiplayer experience in franchise history [with Gears of War: Ultimate Edition] really taught us a lot about what it means to have a 60fps culture on the team and we’re leveraging that experience for Gears of War 4,” Fergusson said.

History is quite important to both Fergusson and The Coalition.

“Like how the original Gears of War was a visual showcase for the Xbox 360, Gears of War 4 will be a graphical showcase for the Xbox One,” he added.

Gears of War 4 will release this year on Xbox One.

Update: Reader Matty rightfully points out that we should likely expect Gears of War 4 multiplayer at 60fps and campaign at 30fps. We’d say the latter is the case as The Coalition is looking to keep the campaign a split-screen capable affair.
