Gears 5 post-launch content schedule detailed

Gears 5 post-launch content schedule was today detailed by developer The Coalition.

Operations

Post-launch support will come in the form of Operations, three-month campaigns that provide a host of new content. We’re in the midst of Operation 1, while Operation 2 will begin in December.

In Operation 1, we’ll see new Supply cards added to the pool each Tuesday, alongside a new Escape Hive. The Gears 5 Store will also be refreshed on a Tuesday (so more likely closer to Wednesday here in Australia).

Operation 2 will include a bunch of new content, as follows:

  • Versus Modes
  • Multiplayer Maps
  • Characters including COG Heroes
  • Tiles for Map Builder
  • New featured events
  • New weekly Escape Hives
  • New weekly Supply Drop content

Access to new characters

New characters can be “earned through gameplay or purchased directly” according to The Coalition. New characters — like Dave Bautista — will be introduced with new Operations; once an Operation ends, that character can still be purchased. Character-specific cosmetic items introduced in an Operation are limited to earn/purchase in that Operation’s time only.

Gears 5 is available now on Windows PC and Xbox One and is part of the Xbox Game Pass subscription program.
