Gears 4 October update prepares for the Xbox One X

The Gears 4 October update brings support for Xbox One X alongside a special Halloween event, developer The Coalition recently confirmed.

The update, available later today, is detailed in the video below:

Two new maps will immediately become available: Lift Apex and Fuel Depot. Moreover, the update readies the game for its special Halloween event, taking place from 27 October. The event offers new characters, weapon skins and themed activities.

Over on Windows PC, the October update will optimise storage; while the download is considerably large, it will eventually drop the overall storage size of the game, bringing it under the storage requirement currently in use.

The Coalition is also planning a special Gears of War anniversary event scheduled for 11 November, celebrating 11 years of the franchise.

Gears of War 4 is currently available on Windows PC and Xbox One as an Xbox Play Anywhere title.
