GameStop PowerPass is a GameFly-like rental service

GameStop PowerPass is a new, GameFly-like rental service that will take advantage of the retailer’s second-hand stock.

Called PowerPass, the service will begin from 19 November across the USA at a cost of $60 USD for a six-month subscription. Much like EB Games’ Swap ‘N’ Play, users will be able to drop into their local GameStop and rent one used title at a time. Titles can be kept for as long as a user’s subscription is active; a new title can only be rented when the previous is returned.

Unlike EB Games, GameStop looks to be pushing the service nationwide at the same time.

We’ve asked EB Games if their South Australian test helped in the formation of PowerPass… and if other Aussies will get to try Swap ‘N’ Play soon. South Australians currently pay $19.95 AUD per month for the service.
