Foxtel Play pulling Xbox 360 support in July

Foxtel Play’s website today declares that the streaming service will not be supported on Xbox 360 from 1 July.

“From 1 July 2016, the Foxtel Play application will no longer be available on the Xbox 360,” the site reads. “Existing Foxtel Play customers will still be able to use their service on other devices. For a full list of devices compatible with Foxtel Play is available below.”

Foxtel Play will continue to work on PS3, PS4 and Xbox One gaming consoles, in addition to PCs and select smart TVs.

We’ve asked for clarification from both Microsoft and Foxtel on the change to 360 support.

Update: A Microsoft rep has told Stevivor that the open-source nature of apps on Xbox means this is a decision wholly made by Foxtel. We’re trying to get a response from the media provider now.

Update: Foxtel has responded.
