Foxtel explains why it’s pulling Foxtel Play support on Xbox 360

A representative today spoke with Stevivor in regards to Foxtel Play support ending on Xbox 360 in July of this year.

“Foxtel has made the difficult decision to halt support for Foxtel Play on Xbox 360 due to a key component of the existing Xbox 360 app being decommissioned,” a Foxtel representative told Stevivor.

“Unfortunately, to maintain support would require a completely new app to be built from scratch, which, given the fact that Xbox 360 is nearing the end of its lifecycle, isn’t feasible for us to pursue. We continue to support Xbox One as well as Play Station 3 and 4, selected connected TVs, PCs and Macs, mobiles and tablets and have been in touch with affected customers to suggest alternative devices they can use to continue accessing Foxtel Play.”

A Microsoft representative had told Stevivor earlier that the decision was Foxtel’s alone. It instead appears connected to Microsoft’s decision to stop production of the Xbox 360 itself. Microsoft has said that though no new 360s will be produced, it will still support various Xbox Live services like online multiplayer, parties and more.

Regardless of fault, Foxtel suggests those using Foxtel Play on Xbox 360 head here to check out alternate viewing options.
