Forza Motorsport is “no more” after Microsoft layoffs

Forza Horizon remains intact.

Forza Motorsport is “no more” following Microsoft’s latest round of Xbox layoffs, according to a former employee at developer Turn 10.

“Turn 10 Studios has shuttered the Forza Motorsport space and the team is no more,” former content coordinator Fred Russell wrote on Facebook. “A very sad day for one of the best car racing video games. I loved my time there.”

As spotted by IGN, fellow former Turn 10 employee Chris Harding took to the post to suggest that “120 people” were “gone from FM side” following the job cuts.

Another former employee, content creator John Schommer, took to the post to add, “I’m very thankful for the 10 years I was able to be a face and voice for this brand and its awesome car loving community.”

Xbox confirmed its fourth round of layoffs in the past 18 months last week, as Xbox head wrote staff to also inform them, “we have more players, games, and gaming hours than ever before. Our platform, hardware, and game roadmap have never looked stronger.”

In addition to a number of Turn 10 employees losing their jobs, The Initiative was closed down, and other layoffs impacted those at King, ZeniMax, and Blizzard. Perfect Dark and Everwild were also cancelled.
