First-person Ryse prototype found on Xbox dev kit

Video from a first-person Ryse prototype has been discovered on an Xbox 360 dev kit and has been subsequently posted to the internet for posterity.

You can check out the gameplay below, thanks to Prototype Preservation. In it, you’ll see that the third-person perspective locked in by developer Crytek is absent and instead a first-person affair with incredibly dodgy dialogue is present. The first-person camera was likely to support the Xbox 360’s Kinect before the title was pushed back to function as an Xbox One release title. Moreover, the title is named Codename: Kingdoms rather than Ryse and the experience itself is listed as an E3 demo.

Ryse: Son of Rome is available now on Xbox One. We reviewed it right here if you’re interested.
