Fallout 76 widescreen support now the subject of fans’ wrath

Fallout 76 PC players are angry over Bethesda’s widescreen support… or really, a lack thereof.

Players on Reddit are adamant that Bethesda’s edited the game’s .ini file to stretch normal 16:9 resolution out to 21:9. In the process, UI elements have been abnormally extended to meet those new dimensions.

“Bethesda, I’m trying really hard to just overlook things and not make negative posts to further mess the moral up at your studios, but seriously, this is getting ridiculous,” a frustrated player wrote.

“Are you seriously saying that this was a months worth of work into getting the 21:9 support fixed?! In a day and age when launching without it was itself so amazingly unbelievable?”

Thankfully, there’s a relatively easy fix that can be employed. An ultrawide fix designed for Fallout 4 also works for Fallout 76.

“A modder without access to the source code did what Bethesda didn’t in a whole month,” Redditor AbheekG exclaimed.

Anger over widescreen support now trumps anger over patch notes, which itself trumped that whole canvas bag thing.

Fallout 76 is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
