AU forfeits season after lack of punishment from “hypocriticial” Blizzard

The American University (AU) Hearthstone team that displayed a “free Hong Kong” banner at the end of a recent match has declared it will forfeit the rest of the Colleagiate Championship Fall 2019 after a lack of punishment from a “hypocritical” Blizzard.

AU displayed the banner in solidarity with Hearthstone pro player Ng Wai ‘blitzchung’ Chung, who shouted “Liberate Hong Kong, revolution of our age!” at the end of a recent match. Chung was banned from play for a full year and will not be able to claim any of this current season’s prize winnings.

“Blizzard/TeSPA has decided not to penalize American University for holding up their sign and has scheduled their next match, but AU has decided to forfeit the match and the season, saying it is hypocritical for Blizzard to punish blitzchung but not them,” Esports reporter Rod Breslau has declared on Twitter.

The AU Gamers Hearthstone team is comprised of Casey Chambers, Corwin Dark and TJammer. We’ll have more on this story as it develops.
