Enhanced Doom, Doom 2 releases available, free to existing owners

Time to rip and tear?

Enhanced versions of Doom and Doom 2 were today re-released at QuakeCon, and will be free to anyone who already owns them on myriad platforms.

These new enhanced versions feature online cross-platform deathmatch and co-op for up to 16  players, accessibility options, support for up to 4K and 120 FPS depending on your platform, an optional soundtrack from Andrew Hulshult, and a brand new episode called “Legacy of Rust” as created by id Software, Nightdive Studios, and MachineGames.

“Existing owners of DOOM (1993) and/or DOOM II on any of the above platforms receive a free upgrade to the new combined game and can still access their previously owned versions,” Bethesda said.

Also at QuakeCon, Bethesda announced it has released a public beta of idStudio for Doom Eternal.

Bethesda called idStudio “the official mod creation toolset for creators and an opt-in PC Mod Preview for players to easily browse and play mods.”

Doom and Doom 2 are available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5, and Switch.
