Embracer, Gearbox lay off employees at Lost Boys Interactive

More layoffs.

More layoffs are impacting the games industry, this time at Lost Boys Interactive, a developer owned by Gearbox (itself owned by Embracer).

An undisclosed number of employees at Lost Boys have lost their positions across “all disciplines at all levels,” former employee Jared Pace confirmed with Aftermath.

Lost Boys Interactive is responsible for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, a title that was recently added to the PlayStation Plus catalog.

Speaking with Eurogamer, a representative of Lost Boys said the layoffs were a result of “headwinds facing the industry right now”.

“Unfortunately, this does mean we will separate from some of our team members and we’re working closely with those affected,” the rep’s statement continued. “We know this is a hard time for this talented and experienced group of people and will provide support and assistance through this transition to those leaving.”

Embracer confirmed it laid off 900 employees in 2023; head Lars Wingefors said the layoffs at the time impacted 5% of Embracer’s total employee count.

Embracer’s layoffs are one of the latest steps in a massive restructuring program that was announced back in June 2023.
