EA, Sportsnet partner for doco on NHL 21 cover star Alex Ovechkin

EA and Sportsnet have partnered for a mini-documentary on NHL 21 cover star, the Washington Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin, and episode one is now available to view.

“In 2005, Alex Ovechkin arrived from Russia as one of the most highly-touted prospects in hockey history,” Sportsnet wrote, introducing the doco. “He wasn’t a blast from the sport’s storied past. He was the future, and transformed what a hockey player could be. In Episode 1 of the three-part series From Alex to Ovi we discover who Alex was prior to his arrival in North America. This is a closer look at Alex before he would become Ovi and change the face of hockey forever.”

We’ll let you know when additional episodes are available to view.

NHL 21 heads to Xbox One and PS4 on 16 October; a next-gen release on Xbox Series X and PS5 is not planned.
