Dreams’ Media Molecule layoffs confirmed by studio

20 staff are reportedly about to be let go.

Dreams’ Media Molecule has announced it is about to layoff some of its staff, with reports suggesting up to 20 employees will soon be out of work.

A report by GLHF was today confirmed, in part, by the studio.

“We have had to make the difficult decision to begin the consultation process for team members within certain departments of the studio,” Media Molecule said in a statement.

“This is a touch moment for the individuals impacted and the studio overall.”

GLHF reported that Media Molecule was seeking to reduce its team between 15-20%, with a headcount reduction from 135 to 115.

“Every single role that has been put at risk is delivered by someone who has contributed something special to Media Molecule,” the studio’s statement continued. “We will make sure those impacted receive the best support we can provide during this process.”

Media Molecule also pledged to continue support of Dreams and its community while it works on its next project. Live support on Dreams finished up in September.
