“Don’t expect” more Overwatch 2 story content in 2023

Another blow to the beleaguered hero shooter.

Overwatch 2 players shouldn’t expect more story-based content in 2023 beyond the initial three chapters scheduled for August.

“Don’t expect the next round in the next season or the season after that, or anything like that,” executive producer Jared Neuss told streamer Emongg as part of a recent Twitch livestream.

“But it is very much like trying to find that balance between getting it in front of players quickly, because we love that story stuff, and giving ourselves enough time to make changes or add features, or do whatever, to make them more compelling,” Neuss continued.

The three episodes of story-based content will drop in August and run for nine weeks, meaning we’re unlikely to get any more before 2024. Players who’d like permanent access to the story-based content will need to drop $15 USD for the privilege.

Overwatch 2 is a free-to-play title available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and Switch.
