Does the PS4 also have DRM for pre-owned games?

Geoff Keighley took to his GTTV show, Bonus Round, last night and alleged that his sources have confirmed that Sony is looking at some form of digital rights management (DRM) to control the sale of pre-owned games on their upcoming PS4.

It’s not the first time such a rumour has popped up; we told you the same thing over a year ago, and Sony’s vague, open-ended statements on the matter to date have done little to ease people’s fears.

Whilst never confirmed, this isn’t the first time heard this rumour. Considering the backlash Microsoft is currently receiving on rumours of a similar DRM system on the Xbox One, it could be a real possibility. It also could be why Sony’s choosing to remain tight-lipped right about now.

Twitter is currently going nuts after hearing about this rumour; the #PS4NoDRM hashtag is quite popular for Sony and Microsoft fans alike as they take to social media to protest the rumoured functionality.

By far, the parody account for CEO Kaz Hirai has the best #PS4NoDRM tweet…
