Vatican priest making own, less-toxic Minecraft server

A Vatican priest is planning to launch a Minecraft server that aims to cater to a less-toxic community.

Fr. Robert Ballecer, a Jesuit priest who’s studied engineering in Silicon Valley, says he hopes to launch the Vatican Minecraft server to encourage a more wholesome environment than that nomally seen in games.

“It’s not about the technology, it’s not even really about the gaming. It’s about getting people together who can then maybe move those relationships to the real world,” Ballecer said to Rome Reports, below.

Ballecer admitted he’s working towards a goal that’s a bit peculiar.

“There were a lot of people who were very hesitant,” he said, “because you see this guy in a collar talking about the latest offerings from Google.

“After a time, they realized, ‘Okay, he knows what he’s talking about, he just happens to be a priest.’ And ultimately, that was the ministry I was trying to do.”

Minecraft is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, PS4, Switch, iOS and Android devices.
