The original Xbox controller was going to look a lot weirder…

Seamus Blackley has taken to Twitter to show off some concepts for the original Xbox’s controller.

First, check those out, below:

Interesting, eh? There are some weird shapes in there; weirder, in fact, than the original design decided upon: the original Duke controller, shown below:

The beast above was released in all markets but Japan during 2001 and 2001. Japan got a smaller version of the controller, codenamed Akebono, that suited smaller hands. The smaller model proved so popular that it eventually was packaged with new consoles around the world.
